MCKAY CLUB BEACONS were 19-15 in the regular season and were forced to play a Play In Game in order to garner the 8th seed in the 2007 Yawkey Baseball League Championship Tournament. Their opponent is West Roxbury Devils who have the same record.
Beacons and Devils split their season series and seem very evenly matched. The only plus for McKay club is they will host the Play In game at Ronan Park Tuesday - August 7th at 7:30PM.
There are 9 teams in the YBL who envy these two clubs right now. several had their chance, but were eliminated in the stretch drive.
South Boston with their win over WR last night caught a break. they had a better aggregate record against WR & Beacons, thus were granted the 7th seed. Al Thomas did them one better and won their game against Medford 9-1. That win propelled the A's to the top of the Tarpey Conference and a #3 seed.
Sean Sullivan will pitch for McKay Club and it seems that Gregg Rockwell will be on the bump for Devils. Lots more action and fun ahead in the YBL. The Championship Tournament will begin on Wednesday - August 8th at various venues.
