What has become of our old pal - Nomah? He is once again on the 15 day DL. The 40 man LA Dodger roster lists him, but will he ever play again. Nomar as we all know him has declined since his abrupt trade in 2004 from Boston to the Cubs. He did experience a resurgence in 2006 - NL Comeback Player of Year with 20HR; 93 RBI and a .303 BA. BUT he slumped into the abyss of baseball obscurity. In 2007 Nomah had only 7 HR's; 59 RBI and had a .293 BA. DL after DL have labeled #5 as a baseball also ran -- instead of a Hall of Famer in the making. It is too bad that bad breaks and poor health have eliminated this once great star from the galaxy of baseball greats!!!!!

I know, I know. He is still my favorite player in the major leagues. I think I have now 96 DIFFERENT baseball cards of Nomar...that's not so easy to do. I have plaques of Nomar in my office. If you didn't know better, you would think I was a stalker. I used to use Nomar as my password. Sick isn't it. He replaced Jim Rice as my favorite. Two great players to idolize, don't you think. My thinking is this, Since Nomar recently came back and took back his third base job from Dewitt, he'll still be my favorite, until it becomes time to choose Manny Ramirez. Again, not a bad choice, huh.
