Big Fish that got away -- may be available to fill the gap IF Lowell decides to leave.

CARLOS PENA NAMED SILVER SLUGGER

Carlos Pena brought a power bat and a smile to the Rays in 2007. Now the slugging Rays first baseman has brought the organization its first-ever Silver Slugger Award. Friday afternoon Pena was named the winner of the American League Silver Slugger Award for first base.Pena thundered through the second half of the season, hitting 29 of his 46 home runs from July through September, finishing with 13 in the final month of the season. After missing three-fourths of the 2005 and 2006 seasons, Pena, 29, came back strong in 2007, finishing the season among the top-10 in five statistical categories: fourth in home runs with 46; sixth in RBIs with 121; ninth in on-base percentage at .411; second in slugging percentage at .627; and seventh in walks with 103.
JUSY IN CASE: We all love Mike Lowel, BUT IF he decides to take the Yankee offer --- Carlos IS available for the right price. Make a deal Theo and we will be happy. Lowell goes sorry - Yoooook goes back to 3B and Pena smashes 25-30HR's at Fenway. Got me?
