OK --- The first April Fools Joke is OUT!

With just 5 days to go before their 2009 season opener, sources close to negotiations have confirmed that the Red Sox have brought former prospect Hanley Ramirez back to Boston. In exchange the Sox will send starting centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury and top pitching prospect Daniel Bard to the Florida Marlins. Boston originally traded Ramirez to Florida in November, 2005 in a multi-player deal in which the Sox obtained Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell. In his 3 full major league seasons the 25-year old has hit .308 with 79 HR, 207 RBI and 137 SB. Although he has been a shortstop throughout his career it is believed Ramirez will be replacing Ellsbury in centerfield for Boston. It is unknown where he will bat in the Boston lineup, but it is likely he will either hit first or second (with Pedroia moving to leadoff). He has 6-years, $70 million remaining on his current deal and the trade is clearly a cost-cutting move for the fiscally conservative Marlins. Although Ellsbury will be missed, and Bard has amazing upside, it's almost impossible not to love this deal. The Sox are currently finalizing a second prospect to send the Marlins and a press conference is expected sometime tomorrow.

BASEBALL HEAD VIEW:

Whoever wrote this is on SKAG!!!!!

This story is all a bunch of BS! The Marlins can not and will not trade the only drawing card they have left. Instead of 2,000 people they will have 500 and they will be family and friends of the players in the stands.
