A Good Yankee Passes Away - Phil Rizutto -- HOLY COW!

New York Yankee legend Phil Rizzuto waves to fans at Old-Timers Day festivities at Yankee Stadium in New York, in this Aug. 14, 1999 file photo. Rizzuto, the Hall of Fame shortstop during the Yankees' dynasty years and beloved by a generation of fans for exclaiming "Holy cow!" as a broadcaster, died Tuesday Aug. 14, 2007. He was 89. It was always fun to listen to Phil call a game. he was light-hearted, but factual. As a Red Sox fan - he reminded me of Johnny Most. The Yankees could do not wrong. Phil was a great player - not a Hall Of Famer. He was better as an ambassador of good will for the sometimes boorish behaviour of Yankees Ownership and their players and fans. I have the baseball package and missed his call of the game these past few years.

May he Rest in Peace and I am sure Phil is calling a game in baseball heaven tonight!
